Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens at the Disneyland Resort on May 31, 2019. Let’s discuss how when to arrive, how to get in, what to wear, and where to buy exclusive merchandise.
With only a week until the opening of the largest expansion to the Disneyland Resort since the addition of Toontown in 1992, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has all the buzz. So what can you expect from the Opening Day of this land from a galaxy far, far away? Let talk about it!
In order to get in the Disneyland Resort and experience Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, guests will need a theme park admission ticket along with an official reservation. Reservations are only needed for guests entering the land between May 31 and June 23. While reservations are no longer available on the Disneyland.com website (they sold out in less than two hours!), you can acquire a reservation by staying at one of three Disneyland Resort Hotels during the month-long time period. If you are accessing the land with a reservation, make sure that everyone in your party is with you, that you have the official reservation QR Code printed our or on your phone, and that all adults in your party have an official government-issued ID with them. Unfortunately, there is no standby line during this time period. Sorry! Guests will be able to experience the new land with a reservation starting June 24.
If you have a reservation for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you can check in by Star Wars Launch Bay in Tomorrowland up to two hours before your reservation window. So there’s no need to arrive super early! Unless you want to buy some exclusive Opening Day merchandise. In that case, make sure to arrive starting at 2:00 a.m. The Mickey & Friends Parking Structure will begin to be open to the public at midnight on May 31. For those of you who plan to come to the park before park opening, please keep in mind to “queue” nicely. That means no chairs nor coolers that you wouldn’t be allowed to bring into the park. And please, be courteous to the Cast Members!
Finally, if you plan to dress up (like we do!) make sure your outfit abides by the Disneyland Resort costume policy. Remember, Disneybounding is encouraged but costumes are not allowed for anyone in your party over the age of 14. For your safety and the safety of others, masks, robes, and other items that may drag on the floor are strictly prohibited.
