Disneyland and Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios will be the home of the first-ever Mickey Mouse-themed attraction: Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
After months of no information on the Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction, Disney fans finally have an update. And it’s not the update we were expecting. Not only will the first-ever Mickey Mouse-themed attraction is coming to both Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland!
Announced on April 19 by Josh D’amaro, President of the Disneyland Resort, the new attraction will be located in a new section of Mickey’s Toontown with a projected opening date of Spring 2022. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be built in what is currently a backstage area, so much of Mickey’s Toontown will remain the same. Fans are speculating that the entrance to the attraction will be through what is currently the Gag Factory, attached to the left of Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin.
The new attraction coming to the Disneyland park will put guests inside the silly world of a Mickey Mouse cartoon short: where anything can happen! Once guests step into the cartoon world of Mickey and Minnie, they’ll board a train with Goofy as the engineer. Then, one magical moment after the next leads you to a zany, out-of-control adventure filled with surprising twists and turns.
With an original story and lovable theme song, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway uses state-of-the-art technologies and dazzling visual effects to transform the cartoon world into an incredible and immersive multi-dimensional experience.
With this announcement on Disney Parks Blog, Walt Disney World fans received an update on the opening date of their version of the attraction. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is planned to open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World Resort (particularly Hollywood Studios, where the former “Great Movie Ride” attraction was located) in Spring 2020.
